I got a great surprise this afternoon. Â As I was leaving the office for the holiday weekend, my boss handed me an envelope. Â I did not open it until I got to my car; expecting $50 or maybe even $100. Â As I opened the envelope, I almost fell over with surprise!!
He had given me a $500 bonus for Christmas!! Â I was not even expecting a bonus, since I have only worked for him for a year. Â But man, this was a great Christmas gift. Â I have been needing a new television set in my living room for about 1 1/2 years now, mine went out, and I could not afford to fix it or buy a new one. Â So, this is buying me a new television set!!! Â They have some great sales going on right now. Â Thank you Mr. Elliott for the wonderful gift.

Well, another Christmas is here. Â I am sorry to say, it is going to be a lean one again this year. Â The things that people want are getting so expensive!! Â Ipod, Ipads, Kindles, anything electronic are hot items.
I am just thankful that I and my family and friends are all safe here at home. Â I know several people who have relatives who are serving overseas, fighting the war, and think of them and how they will miss those away from home over the holiday.
My Christmas wish is for the wars to end and for everyone to come home. Â I know that world peace is never going to be a possibility. Â I don’t understand why people can’t just live and let live. Â It is a question that will never be answered.
So, we celebrate the birth of Christ once more. Â I hope everyone has a joyous and safe Christmas.

Well, I can’t believe the year has gone by so quickly. Â It is already turkey-time again!! Â I have nothing special planned this year. Â No family or friends. Â Everyone has their own plans. Â So, I think I will spend a quiet day, watching the parades and hopefully some good movies and crocheting. Â I am working on a blanket for my cousin. I don’t think I’ll even cook anything special unless I get hungry and change my mind at the last minute.
Thanksgiving is such a great holiday. Â All the food you can eat, and you get to see family you have not seen since last year (and you get to send them home at the end of the day too)!!

In this area, summer ends on Labor Day. So a lot of people go all out and have huge weekend parties or last ditch getaway weekends to the ocean beaches, the Bay, the rivers or even lakes. It’s all about getting to a large body of water and swimming, boating, and fishing.
Friends of mine have a little cabin on the river about 150 miles south of here. They were nice enough to invite me and a couple of our friends to come down on the Labor Day holiday weekend and camp out. I’m thinking about it!
