I’ve Got The Monday Blues

Most people hate Mondays. I am certainly one of them!  The work week is way too long, the weekend is way to short! I really don’t have anything against Monday, as a day. It’s just that I get so nervous that I might not wake up to the alarm clock going off on Monday morning that I don’t sleep at all Sunday night.

I toss and turn and look at the clock about every forty-five minutes. So when the alarm finally DOES go off, I’m exhausted because I haven’t slept at all! And it seems like everyone around me is cranky on Mondays, which makes it hard to deal with, because I’m tired! Maybe they didn’t sleep either!?  I may as well face it; I think I’m just plain allergic to work!

Looking at the bright side

Computer troubles

Have you ever been told that in order to fix your computer trouble that you were going to have to start from the beginning and format hard drive back to the original factory settings? That is what my brother told me about my computer a couple of weeks ago and I am not a happy camper at all! It seems that my audio card is not working properly, and I would think that I could just replace it, but my brother says that is not that case at all. I really don’t want to have to re-install all of my software and data! This computer is several years old now, and he told me that I’d be better off just buying a new one. I sure hate the thought of having to spend that much money! Oh, what to do, what to do!? I hate this kind of thing!

More options to the Internet customers

I was invited to go to MaryAnne’s house for an informational meeting about a new business opportunity that she wanted to present to me. I had misgivings from the start, I avoid getting involved in multi-level-marketing business opportunities, and I hate to tell people that they are wasting their time when they try to recruit me. Since I had never been to MaryAnne’s house before, and she was such a nice person I agreed to go to the meeting. I had hoped that there would be some opportunity to socialize with some other people in the area that I might not have met before, relax a little bit and maybe enjoy some fancy finger foods.

Unfortunately for Maryanne, the meeting did not go as well as she had hoped. the majority of her presentation was dependent on her showing a live broadcast over the Internet of the company’s founder and his family and friends all talk about how great the program was and how it made them all wealthy. MaryAnne was not aware prior to the broadcast that the HughesNet Internet service that she had at her house simply would not support the fast speed of the live broadcast. I was really surprised that she was having that type of trouble! Where I live I have access to Internet through the cable television company, and I just assumed that everyone in the area had the same access.

When I got home I went online to see what options there really ARE for Internet in this area, and was very surprised to find that the options here are very slim indeed. I’ve been seeing commercials for the really fast internet service and thought that I could suggest that to MaryAnne, but according to their on-line wizard even though we can get satellite television service through directv, the direct tv internet service is not yet offered out here in the boonies! I hope it does become available soon – it would be nice for the consumers to have some more provider choices and get a little bit of competition here to drive the prices down!

Laguna Beach sounds like it would be a great vacation destination

Having lived in small towns most of my life, I have always enjoyed visiting other small towns that happen to have a reputation of being an artist’s colony, or artist’s village. Part of that enjoyment comes from the fact that I love to work with my hands and create things, through decorative painting, or with fabric, yarn, or some other materials like duct tape. Not exactly high-brow mind you, but the point is that I love to see the things that other people can create with their own hands. I truly do appreciate, in the fullest extent, how much time, and energy, and soul goes into the hand-crafted creations.

So when Janice invited me to come out to visit her in California I started to do some research about the area that she lives in, and found that Laguna Beach is a place that has a reputation of being an artist’s haven of sorts. Looking at photographs of the Laguna Beach websites, I get the feeling that it would be a very romantic spot to spend a week or two with my hubby if we wanted to throw together a second honeymoon, too. Janice is working on getting some competitive quotes on the prices of a two-week laguna beach vacation rental to see if that is something we will be able to swing this year, or if we are going to have to start saving our pennies to try to take the trip next year. I’d like to go this year, but I’m afraid that there are some health issues that may prevent us from traveling this year, so I won’t be too upset if we have to put it off one year.

Looking for the perfect Christian gifts for my aunt and uncle

Over the years I have not been very good about sending cards and gifts to my dear Aunt Ginny and Uncle Dave. Truth be told, I’ve been justifying it by saying “I’m too busy” or “I’m too broke,” but the reality probably is that I just get so wrapped up in my own little world that I just don’t think about them in a gift-giving way. Sure, they always send me a card on my birthday, and they even send a card to my kids on their birthdays, too. But I guess since my parents split up when I was young and we never really made any effort at all to celebrate the birthdays of my aunt, uncle, or my cousins, it just did not come naturally to me to even think about sending them cards or gifts. Then when I hear from them later, in a letter or card, that they had just turned a certain age on their own birthday I feel selfish.

I think part of the problem has been that I just do not know what their interests are, other than going to their church. I’ve thought about trying to buy them Christian Gifts but when I go over to their house I see so many knick-knacks around the house that are already some form of religious art I feel as if they already have just about every single type of religious item that they could want. This gets confusing, and I don’t like it at all. I wish it was easier to shop for them!
