New Router

March 23rd, 2011

Last week I started having trouble getting online at home. I would have to go reset the router just about every night before my laptop would get online. My brother, Lucas, set up my home network when I first moved into this house and thank goodness he showed me how to reset the router.

But yesterday I guess it would not reset because I could not get online at all. My brother thinks that maybe the router is just getting old and needs to be replaced – after all, I have had it for over 6 years. So today I am going to stop by Best Buy on the way home and buy a new router. I hope that will fix my connection issues.

Fresh Fish

February 20th, 2011

When we lived in North Arlington, we were just a few minutes from Washington or Alexandria, where they used to have fish markets open to the public. In Alexandria, they shut down the fish market and for years it was an abandoned warehouse down by the waterfront, which became a seedy part of town that was not safe after dark.

But last week I needed to be in Alexandria and while searching for a parking place I ended up down by the waterfront and drove past where the old warehouse used to be. It was interesting to find that the valuable waterfront property has been reclaimed and the old warehouse is now a restaurant, surrounded by lots of other restaurants and small boutiques.

The funny thing is, the name of the popular new restaurant in that old warehouse is, are you ready for this?: The Fish Market.

Black Friday madness

November 26th, 2010

I am so glad that I stayed home today and cleaned house instead of going out into that insanity that is called “Black Friday.”  I remember last year when I heard on the news that in New York there was a crowd of shoppers so eager to get into their Wal-Mart that they broke down the doors and stampeded over a Wal-Mart employee, who was trampled to death by the crowd!  That is absolutely crazy and stupid, and I think that this is a very good reason to stop holding “Black Friday” sales in the future.  There really is no need of this insanity!  Stores can hold good sales without all of this craziness going on, for crying out loud!  There has got to be a better way!

Lemon flavored cookies

August 10th, 2010

One of my favorite treats is lemon flavored cookies.  In fact, I love lemon pie, lemon cake, lemon just about anything!  I’ve been having a hard time finding my favorite lemon flavored cookies at the store lately.  It’s very frustrating to have a favorite food and then suddenly not be able to find it anymore!  My favorite lemon cookies are sandwich cookies that are plain shortbread cookies on the outside with a lemon flavored cream filling.  There are other lemon flavored cookies on the market, but those are my favorite.

For about the past three or four months the store was selling them on the endcaps of the aisle, and now the endcap has something different on it.  Looking in the regular cookie aisle, I can’t find them anywhere.  So I had to settle for lemon flavored wafer cookies, which are good, but not as good as the lemon sandwich cookies.  I suspect that it will be a while (probably next summer) before my favorites reappear!  It’s probably a seasonal item.

Cell Phone Issues

May 27th, 2010

I can’t wait for the end up June to arrive. I will then be totally done with my two year commitment with my current cell phone provider. I’m so tired of their B.S. and have wanted to sign up with another provider for such a long while now.

The Internet will certainly come in handy in finding which provider will have all the things that I need. A chore like this one could take some time and time is money, neither which I have much of these days.
