Whether you are Irish, or not, Catholic, or not, if you don’t wear something green today, you are likely to get pinched! Play it safe, and wear something green today! Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone!
Well, it’s here again. . Of course, as we all know, Valentine’s Day is just a good marketing scheme for the greeting card companies and florists. I usually do not receive anything for Valentine’s Day. I feel that there are more important things to spend our money on. However, I see flowers on desks of different offices I go into and find myself wishing that I, too would get flowers, just once…..OR AT LEAST A CARD FOR CRYING OUT LOUD (hint, hint).
The Groundhog usually sees his shadow, predicting six more weeks of winter. This year, I understand that no shadow was seen and we will have an early spring! Hooray!
In this area, summer ends on Labor Day. So a lot of people go all out and have huge weekend parties or last ditch getaway weekends to the ocean beaches, the Bay, the rivers or even lakes. It’s all about getting to a large body of water and swimming, boating, and fishing.
Friends of mine have a little cabin on the river about 150 miles south of here. They were nice enough to invite me and a couple of our friends to come down on the Labor Day holiday weekend and camp out. I’m thinking about it!
I caught my mother off-guard today when I asked her this question: “Do they have the 4th of July in England?” She looked at me with a confused expression on her face, then replied “no.” I laughed at her and told her “Of course they do, Mom! They just don’t celebrate it like us Americans do!”
I don’t usually get the better of her…… That was funny!
