Superbowl weekend is this weekend

January 30th, 2009

I don’t normally care about sports very much, but I did hear that the Cardinals were playing against the Steelers for the Superbowl this weekend.  I also heard that the Cards have never even been to the Superbowl, but that the Steelers have not only gone to the Superbowl, but have won it five times!  I’d have to say that makes the Cards a major underdog in this competition!  Well, I almost always root for the underdog, so if anyone were to ask me who I want to win, my answer would have to be the Cards!  Good luck to them!

Happy New Year

December 31st, 2008

It is so cold and windy out that we decided to stay in tonight.  We were thinking about eating out, but were actually feeling rather lazy.  So we stayed in and cooked up a DiGiorno’s pizza for supper and are going to watch Dick Clark on television and watch the ball drop and call it a year.  This has been a rough year for many people; I hope 2009 is a better one for us all!  With the new president on board in a few weeks, it will certainly be very interesting to say the least!

Merry Christmas to all

December 25th, 2008

Today was a busy, but happy day.  Lots of friends and relatives, lots of good food.  Not many presents because everyone is feeling the budget crunch.  But what is really important at this time of year is getting together with people you care about, right?  Christmas is about being with loved ones, and that is what happened, so it is all good.  Hope you had a good Christmas too!

Christmas wrapping party

December 13th, 2008

Today I went to a Christmas gift wrapping party thrown by one of my good friends.  Everyone that was invited had to bring a few gifts that needed wrapping and a dozen homemade cookies to share.  We spent a couple of hours wrapping each others gifts and eating cookies.  We had to bring copies of our cookie recipes to share.  I wasn’t expecting to have as much fun as we did, I went there anticipating to be relatively bored, but we actually had a great time!  We listened and sang to Christmas songs and drank hot chocolate and/or apple cider while wrapping the gifts.  Before we wrapped the gifts we had to explain who the gift was for and why we chose the gift for the person.  That made it a lot of fun.  One gal brought some “gag” Grinch boxer shorts for her hubby for a gift.  What a riot!

Putting up the Christmas Tree

December 4th, 2008

Last weekend we bought a small artificial Christmas Tree at a thrift store, and brought it home and set it up.  We had to re-arrange some furniture, and now walking through the place is a little bit more challenging, but we’ll make do with it for a few weeks!  I’m hoping to have the time to decorate it this weekend.  I have a pretty large collection of handmade ornaments that I like to put on the tree.  Some were made by friends and family, some I made.  Each one is full of memories, and that is why I like to decorate the tree – each ornament holds a memory that is very dear to me in some way.  I think that is why I like Christmas so much!
