The loss of the true American Idol

April 20th, 2012

Well, Dick Clark is gone and I am going to miss him.  I used to watch Bandstand back in the 70′s when I was a teenager.   This truly is the day the music died.  I believe that we, as a society, believed he would always be here.

His career spanned 5 decades!!!  That is absolutely amazing.  I used to love Bandstand and loved to watch reruns of it as well.  The reruns were a little hard to find, but occasionally, I would come across one.

After his stroke a few years ago, he was still doing cameo spots on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.  He was a trooper until the end.  I don’t think there will ever be another like him.

Diane Keaton

March 20th, 2012

Now there is a lady I can respect.  I don’t know how she stays so young looking and vibrant.  I love her movies, she is very talented and has the Oscar’s to prove it.  But her personal life is so different from what we see in the public eye.

She grew up like most of us, a normal kid.  She left home at 19 to act in NYC and she struggled (like most of us did when we first left home).    I was surprised that she suffered from bulimia.  She led a happy childhood, but found out in later years that her parents were not the happy couple she had believed they were, when she read her mother’s diaries after her death in 2008.   Her mother suffered from Alzheimer’s (such a cruel disease).

I really respect this woman and what she stands for.

Superbowl disappointment

February 7th, 2012

I was really rooting for the Patriots in this year’s Superbowl.  It was a great game, with very few penalty flags being thrown and the score was close for  almost the entire game.  Even the final score was close; 17 – 21.

If only they had caught that Hail Mary pass at the end of the game, I would be reveling in the satisfaction of my husband shampooing our carpets and  cleaning the house for a month.  But, alas, I did not win our “bet” and I will be doing my own cleaning (he always helps though).  But it would have been nice to have been able to sit back and not worry about the dusting, vacuuming  and dishes for a month.  Ahhh…it was just a dream.

Go Patriots!!!

February 1st, 2012

I am rooting for the Patriots in this year’s Superbowl.  I have made a bet with my husband.  If the Patriots win, he has to shampoo the carpets throughout the entire house and clean for one full month.  I deserve a vacation from the daily, mundane task of cleaning.  He has to do the dishes, vacuum the floors, mop and even clean the bathrooms for an entire month.

If the Giants win, I have to wait on him hand and foot for a month (like I don’t do that already!!).  The Patriots are favored this year.

GO PATRIOTS!!!

And the ball drops

January 1st, 2012

Well, did you watch the ball drop in Times Square last night and the big celebration in New
York City?

I was awake until 11:45, turned the TV channel to watch it all go down; I had been watching the Big Bang Theory marathon all evening, and then I fell asleep!!

I awoke again about 12:30, said “eh, Happy New Year” and went back to sleep.  Very exciting evening!!!
