My sister sent me a link to a story on a news site that she likes to read about a story of some Danish college students who were kicked off of Facebook because they had documented with photographs (posted on the web) themselves cooking and eating a cat. They claimed that they were doing this to protest the way that people eat animals in general, and that their cat was a feral cat killed by a farmer who was trying to control the number of cats on his land, but their efforts created such a huge outrage that they ended up getting kicked off of Facebook.
I know that there are some cultures that eat cats (and dogs) routinely, but those are two animals that I cannot imagine myself eating on purpose. If I could arrange my life so that I was a vegetarian I would do so, but my life is a little too complicated for that right now.
I was reading an article on ananova.com a story that prisoners in a Bosnian jail were using pigeons to smuggle heroin into jail. It seems that one of the rehabilitation programs in the jail involves raising pigeons, and someone in the program took it a little bit further than intended. The “guilty” pigeon has been put behind birdy bars. I’m surprised that the folks in charge of security didn’t see something like this as a possiblity of happening as a result of raising pigeons!
I, like so many others in this wonderful world of ours, LOVE to play the applications on Face Book. I have two farms in Farmville, a homestead in Frontierville, a city in Cityville, an Island in Treasure Island… the list goes on and on and on.
Like most Face Book users, I use the applications for entertainment and to kill time when I happen to have some extra time on my hands. I go to my Frontier for relaxation, harvest a few crops, try to complete a few missions and then move on to Farmville. I have an English farm and an American farm. I grow and harvest crops on both farms, build new buildings, raise animals and (new to Farmville), complete missions. Farmville is celebrating its 1 year anniversary this week. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Farmville!!!
Some people say (such as Betty White when she hosted SNL), that Face Book is a big waste of time. And true, it is. But, if you have time to waste, the I can’t think of a better way to do it. It’s fun, it’s relaxing and you get to communicate with people you haven’t heard from in years, not to mention all the new “friends” I have made.
I don’t have the opportunity to watch any of the Martha Stewart shows on television because of my work schedule, but I do enjoy watching clips from her shows on You Tube. This clip is of her with Conan in the potting shed, making topiaries from some plants that Conan claims he found in his back yard. It’s refreshing to see that Martha has a great sense of humor! Very amusing!
Today I went to a Red-Hatter party where we all met at Patty’s house to learn how to sell things on Ebay. Patty’s been selling things on Ebay for several years and she invited us all to come over and she would help us set up our seller accounts and list something for sale.
When we got to her place, she was completely unprepared. It seems that her comuter is over ten years old, and kept shutting down in the middle of what we were doing. She didn’t have a camera ready to take photos of the items, she didn’t have a list of the flat rate USPS box dimensions and prices, and she didn’t have a tape measure or postage scale.
And to top it off I think she was a little bit inebriated. What a shame!
