I’ve got the Monday blues

April 28th, 2008

Most people hate Mondays.  I’m one of them!  The work week is waaaay too long, the weekend is waaaay to short!  I really don’t have anything against Monday, as a day.  It’s just that I get so nervous that I might not wake up to the alarm clock going off on Monday morning that I don’t sleep at all Sunday night.  I toss and turn and look at the clock about every forty-five minutes.  So when the alarm finally DOES go off, I’m exhausted because I haven’t slept at all!  And it seems like everyone around me is cranky on Mondays, which makes it hard to deal with, because I’m tired!  Maybe they didn’t sleep either!?  I may as well face it; I think I’m allergic to work!

Today is Earth Day

April 22nd, 2008

There were some Earth Day presentations going on today at the local library at noon, so I went there to see them during my lunch break.  I couldn’t find anyplace to park, so I eventually gave up and went back to work, disappointed.  I feel strongly that we need to pay closer attention to what we are doing to the Earth and do a lot more to protect it from the harm that industry is doing to it, and to do whatever we can to repair the damage that has already been done.

Wednesday is “hump day”

April 16th, 2008

Well, before your dirty minds go crazy, Wednesday being “hump day” means it is half-way through the work week, at noon you have gone “over the hump” and heading towards the weekend. Kind of like being “over the hill” but in a good way! Where does the time go?
There just never seems to be enough time in any day, or any week. It just doesn’t seem fair; when we were kids it seems like we had all the time in the world, and the days and weeks just didn’t slip by. The time between one holiday and the next, or birthday to the next was just “forever” and now the time speeds by so fast it feels like I’m on a speeding roller coaster!
It seems like every time I turn around, the week is over, or the weekend is over, and I just can’t believe how fast it went! I guess that is one of the more unpleasant aspects of getting older, time goes by too quickly.

Roomba the robot vacuum cleaner

April 10th, 2008

Well, last weekend’s visit with my sister went very well.  My hubby & hers shot some pool in the game room and hung out while my sister dragged me to the local Linens ‘N Things.  She bought me a Roomba vacuum cleaner there!  She said she has one and loves it, and wanted me to have one, too!  Wasn’t that sweet of her?

So, we brought it home, charged it up and gave it a whirl.  I LOVE IT!  Today’s convenience appliances are just too cool!  Granted, it does not clean as deep as my “regular” vacuum cleaner, but the fact that it cleans without me having to push it around is wonderful!  I can run it every day or so while I’m doing something else, so that will help to keep the house cleaner than running the regular vacuum once a week.

Company is coming over

April 4th, 2008

I took the day off of work today to get the house ready for weekend company.  My “guests” are my sister and her hubby - I haven’t seen them in over a year because they live very far away from me.  They are arriving tomorrow morning and spending the whole weekend, so I needed today to do my shopping and cleaning, and get the guest room ready.

I am so excited that they are coming!  I need to buy some new towels for them to use - all of my towels are too shabby for me to want them to even see them!  I like to buy the extra large bath towels, the standard size leave me feeling unsatisfied in some strange way.
